Free 6-Month Subscription To Pandai Premium For 200 Students!

A total of 200 Primary school students in Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah (PPD) Keramat are selected to join Pandai @ Schools programme, receiving 6-month free access to our full premium features. There are 40 students from each of the 5 schools represented. Pandai also provides tablets and booklets to the students to help them with their digital learning experiences.

National Technology & Innovation Sandbox (NTIS)

Pandai @ School programme was executed via financing through the National Technology & Innovation Sandbox (NTIS), a commercialisation grant initiated by the Malaysian government as part of the Short-Term Recovery Plan (PENJANA) that was announced back in June 2020. This grant is spearheaded by Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) with Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) as the Secretariat. The grant won by Pandai was in collaboration with Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).

To further strengthen the assessment of students involved in the project, Pandai has onboarded a celebrated academic figure, Prof Dato Dr Noraini Binti Idris, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) of UPSI and known for her stern teaching style and expertise in the field of mathematics & pedagogy. She is now championing the STEM integration into education in Malaysia through the National STEM Association (NSA). By having Prof Dato Noraini as the advisor of the project and combined with Pandai team’s top-notch data analytics strategy, the team hopes to be able to produce a working model to holistically assess students’ progress in their everyday learning through digital intervention.

Meeting With The Headmasters

On 24 August, the project team met with the headmasters of the 5 schools to brief them about the course of the project. This covered details such as the timeline of the project, the distribution of the tablets, the demonstration of ownership and use, and the reporting expectations of the schools. Another briefing was held on Sep 1st to brief the teachers involved and address their questions and concerns. Students will go through the project for 17 weeks, from 26 September 2022 to 17 February 2022.

During the school term break from 9 to 31 December 2022, Pandai, in collaboration with the National STEM Association, will also be offering extracurricular learning that will be conducted online. The tablets were distributed to students during the week of 19 September 2022, with the on-site team also demonstrating to students how to use the Pandai App. Prior to the start of the programme, students first took a pre-test in the four subjects involved (both Paper 1 and Paper 2) to test their knowledge and set the benchmark for individual performance on a topical level. Students will have access to Pandai Premium until the 2022/2023 school term, which begins in February, and will continue to use the tablets with the free version of the Pandai app until the end of their primary school years.

What is Pandai @ Schools?

Pandai @ Schools was designed and implemented to assist and relieve teachers’ burdens on tasks outside of school/teaching hours through the App’s features such as Quizzes, Exams, Flashcards, Live Tuition, and many more!

While the project focuses on the four core subjects (BM, BI Maths, and Science), students can also learn outside of the syllabus; such as KAFA, Kangaroo Maths and Beaver Computational Thinking.

The tablets are loaned to students, who must return them at the end of their primary school years (Year 6) or, if they transfer to another school, before completing Year 6. Four teachers from each school have also received the tablets so that they can become familiar with the students’ daily use of the devices. The four teachers represent each of the core subjects monitored under this project.

Which Schools Are Involved?

The aims of the programme is to provide access to personalised e-learning content to the selected students and teachers. Pandai also wants to validate digital learning in a supportive and student-centred environment. Furthermore, it wants to collect data on student performance and behaviour when using digital learning platforms. Last but not least, it aims to provide a working model for a comprehensive implementation of digital learning in schools.

Stay tuned for more updates on the programme! 😊
