Find out what type of learner you are with this 5 learning styles NOW!

Hi Young Pandai! Have you ever wondered what type  of learners you are? Learning is a complex process that involves various cognitive and behavioural activities, and there are many different ways that we can approach learning. Understanding our own learning style can help us to tailor the approach to exploring academics in a way that is most effective for us! Let’s see the 5 most well-known types of learning styles!

1. Visual

Visual learners are individuals who learn best through the use of images and visual aids. They often prefer to read rather than listen, and they may benefit from diagrams, charts, and videos. Visual learners may also be skilled at spatial reasoning and have a strong sense of direction. For example, a visual learner may understand a complex concept more easily when it is presented through a diagram or flowchart. They may also benefit from using colour-coding and highlighting when taking notes. If you are a visual learner, try using colourful flashcards, mind maps, or diagrams to help you learn.

2. Auditory

Auditory learners, on the other hand, learn best through hearing and listening. They may enjoy lectures, discussions, and podcasts. They are often skilled at recognizing patterns in sound and may have a strong sense of rhythm. For example, an auditory learner may understand a difficult concept more easily when it is explained in a lecture or a podcast. They may also benefit from reading their notes aloud or having someone else read them to them. If you are an auditory learner, try recording yourself reading your notes aloud or listening to lectures or podcasts.

3. Reading/Writing

Next, some learners learn best through the process of writing and reading. They may enjoy written-based materials such as taking notes, making lists, and creating outlines. This type of learners often have strong writing skills and may enjoy journaling or creative writing. They express themselves best through written words. For example, a writing learner may understand a concept more easily when they write it down in their own words. They may also benefit from creating their own study guides or using flashcards to help them remember important information. If you are a writing learner, try taking detailed notes during lectures and rewriting them in your own words.

4. Kinesthetic

Kinesthetic learning refers to a learning style in which individuals learn best through physical activities and hands-on experiences. They may enjoy working with tools, building models, or participating in sports. Learners with kinesthetic strength often have strong spatial reasoning skills and may be skilled at manipulating objects. For example, a kinesthetic learner may understand a concept more easily when they engage in a hands-on activity, such as building a model of a molecule or using a virtual reality simulator. They may also benefit from incorporating physical activity into their learning, such as taking notes while standing or using a fidget toy to keep their hands busy.

5. Multimodal

Finally, multimodal learners learn best through a combination of different learning styles. They may benefit from using a variety of tools and techniques to learn, such as visual aids, hands-on activities, and discussion groups. Multimodal learners often have strong communication skills and may be able to adapt quickly to different learning environments. For example, a multimodal learner may understand a concept more easily when it is presented through a combination of visual aids, lecture, and group discussion. They may also benefit from experimenting with different techniques to find what works best for them.

So, what type of learning style do you prefer the most?

Understanding your own learning style can help you to approach learning in a way that is most effective for you. Each of the five learning styles has its own unique strengths and challenges, and it is important to find the right balance of techniques and tools that work best for you. By embracing your own learning style and trying new approaches to learning, you can achieve success in all areas of your life. So, take some time to reflect on your own learning style and experiment with new techniques to find what works best for you!
